Starcloud-2
Starcloud's first commercial satellite: a GPU cluster with storage in sun-synchronous orbit, meant to process data from other spacecraft and offer cloud computing from space.
Why it matters
Satellites collect far more data than they can send down. Processing it in orbit, next to where it is collected, could cut downlink costs and delays. It is also Starcloud's first commercial mission.
How the technology works
A small satellite carries a GPU cluster, persistent storage and Starcloud's own power and thermal systems. It sits in a sun-synchronous orbit, where its solar panels see the Sun most of the time.
Starcloud says it will be fully operational by 2027.
