HASTE

A suborbital version of Electron that flies hypersonic test payloads for the U.S. government and allied nations, so they can test at real speeds without a full orbital launch.

Why it matters

Hypersonic and other suborbital technologies need real flight tests. A launcher derived from a rocket that already flies often gives developers another way to get them.

How the technology works

HASTE (Hypersonic Accelerator Suborbital Test Electron) is a suborbital testbed derived from Electron. It flies a suborbital path and carries test payloads for hypersonic and suborbital technology development, using the same launch facilities that support Electron.
