Comet

Apex's high-power bus family. Comet Mini carries up to 3,000 kg with 8 kW of average payload power; a larger Comet XL is planned for Starship-class rockets.

Why it matters

Big, power-hungry payloads such as space-based computing or large radars have usually required custom satellites. A production bus at this size could make them cheaper and faster to field.

How the technology works

Comet Mini supports payloads of up to 3,000 kg in custom configurations, with 8 kW orbit-average and 20 kW peak payload power. Apex says it enters scaled delivery in 2028, and that Comet XL, a 100 kW bus sized for super heavy rockets, is coming.
