XCUBE

Xplore's hyperspectral satellite line; XCUBE-1 launched in December 2024 and returned images at about 5-meter resolution.

Why it matters

Many hyperspectral satellites see only coarse detail. At 5 meters, analysts can pick out individual fields, ponds or industrial sites and tell what materials are present.

How the technology works

XCUBE-1 launched on SpaceX's Bandwagon-2 rideshare to a mid-inclination orbit and is run with Xplore's Major Tom software. Xplore says its fleet combines hyperspectral, optical and video sensors with onboard computing so some data products can be made in orbit.
