HummingLink satellite radio parts

3D-printed antennas, filters and waveguides for satellite radios, each made as a single metal part. SWISSto12 says more than 2,000 have flown, from low Earth orbit to geostationary.

Why it matters

Printing several radio functions into one part cuts assembly steps and removes the hand tuning that conventional filters need. The line also gives SWISSto12 a business selling to other satellite builders, beyond its own satellites.

How the technology works

SWISSto12 prints RF parts as single metal pieces: antennas that combine the horn, polarizer and filters, and filters with no tuning screws. The HummingLink line also includes electronically steered phased-array antennas in X, Ku and Ka bands for LEO, MEO and GEO, plus waveguide routing licensed from Airbus Defence and Space.
