Skylark L

An 11.65-meter single-stage suborbital rocket built to fly past 100 km. It is licensed to fly from Shetland but in 2025 was waiting on a free launch pad.

Why it matters

Skylark L tests about 70 percent of the systems Skyrora needs for its orbital rocket and can carry up to 50 kg of experiments. It is the first rocket from a UK company licensed to launch from British soil.

How the technology works

A pressure-fed, regeneratively cooled engine burning high-test peroxide and kerosene drives the guided rocket. In August 2025 the company said it was flight-ready and would launch from the first available pad at SaxaVord.
