HyperScape
Compact hyperspectral cameras for cubesats and small satellites that capture 32 color bands at once; Simera Sense says more than 15 of its HyperScape100 units have launched.
Why it matters
An off-the-shelf hyperspectral camera lets a new satellite operator sell material and crop data without designing optics in-house, which is why constellation builders such as Loft Orbital buy them.
How the technology works
Operators pick any 32 visible and near-infrared bands from a library of 400 and can change that selection while the satellite is in orbit. The camera comes in two sizes, HyperScape50 and HyperScape100; the larger one images at 4.75 m resolution from about 500 km.
