Aurora
Reaction Dynamics' small orbital rocket, aiming for its first orbital flight from Canadian soil in the fourth quarter of 2028.
Why it matters
Canada is the only G7 country without its own way to launch satellites. Aurora is meant to give it one.
How the technology works
Aurora is a two-stage rocket on storable propellants, 18 m long and 1.8 m wide. Eight RE-202C engines power the first stage and two restartable vacuum engines the second, for about 200 kg to low Earth orbit or 250 kg to sun-synchronous orbit.
The company is working with Maritime Launch Services in Nova Scotia on a Canadian launch site.
