CarryAll

A reusable free-flying spacecraft meant to carry cargo in orbit and bring it back down to Earth, planned in sizes up to about 10 tons of return cargo.

Why it matters

Most spacecraft burn up at the end of their missions. A reusable vehicle that returns cargo regularly would let in-space manufacturing, research and defense testing get their hardware back.

How the technology works

CarryAll supplies power, communications and transport in orbit, then reenters behind a heat shield. Outpost's 2024 Air Force award funded development of its heat shield, payload bus and a paragliding system for guided recovery.
