ConnectedCosmos

Open Cosmos's planned 192-satellite low Earth orbit network for secure broadband and direct-to-device IoT, with full global coverage targeted for 2030.

Why it matters

Governments and companies that need communications under national control have few options besides large non-European networks. Open Cosmos pitches ConnectedCosmos as a European alternative built and run in Europe.

How the technology works

The company plans more than 96 satellites in orbit by the end of 2028 and 192 as the core of the network, with full global coverage targeted for 2030. The satellites combine broadband and IoT links and pass data between each other over optical links.

Its next launch for the network was expected before the end of 2026.
