OKAPI:Astrolabe
A neutral coordination tool that lets two satellite operators facing a close approach agree on who will maneuver.
Why it matters
When two active satellites converge, both operators may move, or neither, and either can cause a collision. A shared, neutral channel removes that guesswork.
How the technology works
Astrolabe gives both operators the same view of a conjunction and a protocol for agreeing on a plan in real time. SSTL and ESA used it in a coordination exercise in 2024.
