Tundra

NordSpace's planned reusable small rocket, rated by the company for up to 1,100 kg to low Earth orbit and targeting first orbital launch no earlier than 2028 from Newfoundland.

Why it matters

Canada's defense department wants a light-lift launch capability from Canadian soil by 2028, and Tundra is one of the vehicles it is funding.

How the technology works

Tundra runs on NordSpace's 3D-printed liquid engines; the Hadfield-10 engine was fired in February 2024. Earlier company releases rated Tundra at 500 kg to orbit; the current site says up to 1,100 kg.
