Osprey u8

Kymeta's rugged flat-panel satellite terminal for military and government vehicles and ships, able to work with both low-orbit and geostationary networks.

Why it matters

Troops and response teams need links that keep working on the move and can switch networks if one is jammed or busy.

How the technology works

A metamaterial antenna steers its beam electronically, so it tracks satellites without a motorized dish. A DoD contract is adding computing and software radio to turn it into a multi-mission edge device.
