Laelaps

A KMI spacecraft with a large fuel reserve meant to carry the REACCH grappler and move, re-orbit or deorbit other objects.

Why it matters

Relocation and removal need a vehicle with enough propulsion to chase and haul other objects. Laelaps is KMI's planned workhorse for that service.

How the technology works

KMI describes Laelaps as its phase 1 spacecraft with large delta-v reserves. An Air Force Direct-to-Phase II contract funds its design, with EMAG Technologies and Orbion Space Technology as partners on the spacecraft.
