Mega Class bus
K2's large satellite bus, offering about 20 kW of power and 3,000 kg of payload, roughly ten times the power of a typical constellation satellite.
Why it matters
High power lets a satellite run bigger radios, radars or computers. K2 bets that cheap heavy launch makes such satellites affordable in fleets, not just as one-off custom builds.
How the technology works
K2 builds the bus in a 180,000-square-foot factory in Torrance. Ten can be stacked on one launch for about 200 kW in total.
Its first production unit, Gravitas, carries a 20 kW Hall-effect thruster and large solar arrays.
