SR75

A single-stage hybrid rocket that can carry roughly 200 to 250 kg on short trips to space. It first flew from South Australia in May 2024.

Why it matters

SR75 tests the engine that will power HyImpulse's orbital rocket while also selling flights to researchers who need a few minutes of weightlessness.

How the technology works

One HyPLOX-75 hybrid motor burns solid paraffin fuel with liquid oxygen, producing about 75 kN of thrust. Hybrids are simpler and safer to handle than many liquid engines.
