Stampede

Planned constellation of solar-powered satellites running GPU computing in low Earth orbit and sending results down by laser.

Why it matters

AI data centers on Earth are running into limits on power and grid connections. Cowboy Space is betting that sunlight in orbit plus laser data links can supply compute without those limits.

How the technology works

Satellites collect solar power and run GPUs on board, then send data back to Earth over optical links. The company also describes a rocket upper stage built to stay in orbit as a 1-megawatt data center.

It presents these as design goals, not demonstrated results.
