Space solar power beaming (Aetherflux)

The original Aetherflux plan: satellites in low orbit collect sunlight and beam it as infrared laser light to small receiving stations on the ground.

Why it matters

Power delivered from orbit could reach remote military bases or disaster zones without fuel convoys. The U.S. Defense Department funded a proof-of-concept demonstration, according to the company's Series A announcement.

How the technology works

Low Earth orbit satellites gather solar energy and transmit it with lasers to portable ground stations about 5 to 10 meters across. The company planned its first in-space demonstration for 2026.
