NISA lunar camera
Rugged camera family that Canadensys builds for Moon missions. One was set to fly on Firefly's Blue Ghost Mission 1 in January 2025 to film a NASA soil-sampling experiment.
Why it matters
Landers and instruments need eyes on the surface to confirm that hardware worked and to share images with the public. Off-the-shelf flight cameras save mission teams from building their own.
How the technology works
The camera is a compact imaging unit built to survive launch, vacuum and lunar conditions. On Blue Ghost Mission 1 it was assigned to watch Honeybee Robotics' Lunar PlanetVac use compressed gas to drive regolith into a sample chamber.
