TILBA-OGS

Turnkey optical ground station that receives laser downlinks from satellites, sold to ground network operators and governments.

Why it matters

Laser downlinks can carry many times more data than radio, but the atmosphere scrambles the beam. A station that copes with turbulence makes laser links practical for routine use.

How the technology works

A telescope tracks the satellite and collects its laser beam. Cailabs' own light-shaping technology, multi-plane light conversion, is used to reduce the effects of atmospheric turbulence on the received signal.

The L10 model has completed links with several constellations, according to Cailabs.
