OGSaaS by Cailabs

Planned shared network of about 15 optical ground stations, at least four in the US, that satellite operators can rent instead of building their own.

Why it matters

Optical links fail under clouds, so an operator needs many stations in different places. Renting time on a shared network avoids that cost and the need for in-house laser expertise.

How the technology works

The service combines Cailabs-run stations and partner sites. Established ground station providers can also resell its capacity to their customers.

Cailabs said the launch is backed by its selection for investment through the EIC STEP Scale Up program.
