CLV-1 crewed lunar vehicle

Astrolab's rover for NASA's Artemis astronauts, derived from its FLEX design. NASA selected it in May 2026, and Astrolab lists an early 2028 launch.

Why it matters

It is one of only two rovers NASA is paying to build for crews at the south pole, so it may be the vehicle astronauts actually drive on the Moon.

How the technology works

CLV-1, short for Crewed Lunar Vehicle, adapts Astrolab's FLEX rover architecture to carry astronauts and supplies, and it can run some surface operations remotely. NASA expects its contracted rovers to reach the Moon by 2028.
