Draper

A storable liquid rocket engine that powers the Air Force Research Laboratory's Affordable Rapid Missile Demonstrator and underpins Ursa Major's HAVOC hypersonic missile.

Why it matters

Storable liquid engines can stay fueled for long periods and give more control in flight than a solid motor. A ready-made engine lets missile and vehicle builders avoid developing propulsion themselves.

How the technology works

Draper runs on storable liquid propellants. Ursa Major was prime contractor and vehicle integrator for AFRL's Affordable Rapid Missile Demonstrator, which has flown twice on Draper, the second time 45 days after the first.
