Nyx
Reusable cargo capsule designed to fly to any space station on a heavy rocket and bring up to 3,000 kg back to Earth.
Why it matters
A reusable capsule that can return up to 3,000 kg of cargo would give space stations, including future commercial ones, another way to send supplies up and bring experiments back. Its first flight is planned for 2028, carrying ESA cargo to the ISS.
How the technology works
Nyx is a capsule built to launch on any heavy rocket, travel to a space station, be refilled with propellant in orbit, and be refurbished after it returns for its next flight. A scaled demonstrator, Mission Possible, flew in June 2025: it survived reentry but contact was lost minutes before splashdown.
