Space Edge Computer

A compact AI computer that rides on Earth-observation satellites and processes imagery in orbit, so only useful results need to come down.

Why it matters

Small satellites can capture far more pixels than they can downlink. Processing on board cuts data volumes, speeds up answers and lets operators sell analysis instead of raw images.

How the technology works

SE-1 units connect to the host satellite's sensor and run AI models on its data in orbit. The first SE-1 flew on a Satellogic satellite in January 2023 and four more units launched in March 2024, including one inside Esper's hyperspectral imager.

Spiral Blue announced a next-generation SE-2 based on the Orin NX processor.
