EUROHAB

An inflatable habitat sent ahead as lander cargo to serve as a base camp, so astronauts can explore farther from where they land.

Why it matters

Artemis crews will be limited to the area around their lander. A shelter placed at a crater rim or other site of interest would let them stay and work there, and Spartan wants to rent it out as a service.

How the technology works

The habitat packs small for launch and inflates on the surface after a robotic lander delivers it. A prototype was built in 2021, shown at Expo Dubai and used in ESA/ESRIC field demonstrations.

The related LISE concept, studied with CNES, is sized for European landers such as Argonaut.
