Hokkaido Spaceport (HOSPO)

Commercial spaceport in Taiki, Hokkaido, with an active pad used by Interstellar Technologies, a new launch complex for small-satellite rockets whose major construction finished in 2026, and a runway.

Why it matters

Japan's main launch sites belong to its space agency. A commercial site gives private Japanese rocket companies their own place to test and fly.

How the technology works

Launch Complex 0 hosts Interstellar Technologies' MOMO launches and ZERO engine tests. Launch Complex 1, built by Taiki Town for rockets carrying small satellites, finished major construction in October 2026, with Interstellar as its first launch customer.

A Launch Complex 2 is planned for frequent orbital launches. SPACE COTAN runs the site under a 15-year concession.
