EOS
A tiny single-stage-to-orbit rocket designed to carry small payloads to low Earth orbit and return under a parafoil for reuse. A first low-altitude test flight was targeted for the second quarter of 2026.
Why it matters
Reaching orbit with one reusable stage is very hard. If EOS worked, it would offer rides for very small satellites from sites with little launch infrastructure, since the whole system is designed to fit in one container.
How the technology works
EOS uses a single MR-5 main engine and no separate upper stage. After deploying its payload it comes back and lands under a parafoil.
The vehicle and its launch infrastructure are designed to ship in a 40-foot container. An early design quoted 13 kg to orbit; that figure has since been dropped from the company's site and renders show a larger vehicle.
