Sedaro's software that runs mission simulations aboard a satellite so it can forecast the results of its own actions, tested in orbit in 2025 and with Shield AI in 2026.
Why it matters
Satellites that can make decisions on their own need software operators can trust. Testing that software against a detailed model of itself catches errors before they matter.
How the technology works
SAFE takes a simulator built in Sedaro's cloud platform and runs it on the satellite's own processor, modeling its orbit, environment, power and software to forecast how possible actions will play out. In 2025 it ran 150 such simulations on orbit faster than real time.
Sedaro and Shield AI demonstrated trusted autonomy on the NOVI satellite in August 2026.
