iSIM cameras

Small, high-resolution optical cameras (iSIM-90 and iSIM-170) that SATLANTIS sells to other satellite builders and flies on its own missions.

Why it matters

Sharp imaging usually needs a big telescope and a big satellite. A compact camera that fits a small satellite lowers the cost of high-resolution imaging, and SATLANTIS reported a backlog of more than 24 payloads to deliver within 12 months.

How the technology works

iSIM uses a compact binocular optical design (the iSIM-170 weighs under 20 kg) to reach high resolution in a small volume, with visible, near-infrared and shortwave-infrared versions and video capability. An iSIM-170 went to the ISS in 2020 and an iSIM-90 in 2021.
