LUNARK

A foldable Moon habitat prototype that SAGA built and tested in northern Greenland in 2020, where two of its team lived in it for 60 days.

Why it matters

Long stays on the Moon will depend on shelters that pack small and keep people healthy in isolation. Field tests on Earth show what works before anything flies.

How the technology works

The shell is a folding origami structure of rigid carbon fiber panels that expands about 7.5 times when deployed. Circadian light panels mimic Earth daylight.

It was set up near Moriusaq in northern Greenland in 2020 as an analog for a lunar stay.
