Software Rhea is developing for the U.S. Air Force to track and predict where satellites are going in the space between Earth and the Moon.
Why it matters
Military tracking systems assume orbits close to Earth that repeat. Near the Moon, paths do not repeat and are hard to forecast, so the military needs new tools to keep watch there.
How the technology works
The dashboard models spacecraft trajectories in cislunar space using dynamical systems methods, built with trajectory experts at Purdue University and visualization software from Saber Astronautics.
