OrbitCloud

A planned regional constellation of low-orbit satellites that gives defense users a private 5G network reaching phones, drones and sensors directly, with AI processing done in orbit.

Why it matters

Forces in the field depend on ground networks that can be destroyed or jammed. A private satellite 5G network that talks straight to standard devices, and sends only processed alerts, cuts reliance on ground stations and shortens the time from detection to action.

How the technology works

OrbitCloud uses the 3GPP non-terrestrial network standard, so ordinary 5G devices can connect to the satellites. The satellites are linked by inter-satellite links and share AI workloads across a mesh of onboard processors, sending results rather than raw data.

ReOrbit describes it as a regional constellation angled over one area. Business Finland backed an R&D program for it in June 2026.
