Terran R

A medium-lift rocket with a reusable first stage, built to compete with Falcon 9 for satellite launches. Being integrated and tested ahead of a first flight from Cape Canaveral.

Why it matters

Satellite operators want more than one supplier for medium-sized launches. Terran R would add another option, and it already has commercial customers such as SES.

How the technology works

Thirteen Aeon R engines burning liquid oxygen and methane power the first stage, which is designed to land downrange and fly again. Relativity lists 23,500 kg to low Earth orbit when the booster is recovered and 33,500 kg when it is not.

It will launch from Launch Complex 16 at Cape Canaveral.
