Ranger

A large, refuelable spacecraft that carries several tons of fuel so it can make big orbit changes, host payloads and refuel others. The first flight, a pathfinder called Prime, is targeted for 2027.

Why it matters

Militaries want satellites that can move often without running dry, and future traffic between Earth and the Moon will need the same. Ranger is pitched at both: national security missions now, cislunar logistics and monitoring later.

How the technology works

Quantum says Ranger carries more than 4,000 kg of storable fuel, has mission-configurable ports for payloads, and is designed for about 15 years in space. It combines chemical thrusters for fast moves with electric propulsion (from Phase Four) for efficient long burns, and can be refueled.

No Ranger has flown yet.
