Miura 5
A two-stage small rocket designed to carry up to about 540 kg to sun-synchronous orbit from French Guiana, with a first stage meant to be recovered from the ocean and reused. First flight is expected in early 2027.
Why it matters
Miura 5 would give Europe another commercial launcher for small satellites, built in Spain and backed by ESA. PLD says it wants to reach up to 30 missions a year.
How the technology works
Miura 5 has two stages. After launch the first stage comes down in the ocean and is recovered so it can fly again; PLD aims to make the whole vehicle reusable over time.
Launches are planned from the Guiana Space Centre in Kourou, French Guiana.
