Ovzon 3
Ovzon's own geostationary communications satellite, with steerable high-power spot beams and an onboard processor, built to give military and government users fast links to small portable terminals.
Why it matters
Troops and responders in remote places need links that work with terminals they can carry. Steerable beams let Ovzon move capacity to wherever a mission is happening, and an operator-owned satellite gives Ovzon control of its own capacity instead of renting it.
How the technology works
Ovzon 3 sits at 59.7 degrees East. Its spot beams can be steered over about a third of the Earth, concentrating power so small terminals can reach high data rates.
An onboard processor routes traffic in the satellite itself. Maxar built it, and it used electric propulsion for the final months of its climb to orbit.
