Overview Energy space power system

A planned fleet of geosynchronous satellites that turns sunlight into near-infrared laser light and beams it onto solar farms on Earth, with a low-orbit test in 2028 and commercial service targeted for 2030.

Why it matters

Solar farms sit idle at night. Beaming light onto panels that already exist could make them produce power around the clock without building new receivers, which is why data-center buyers such as Meta are interested.

How the technology works

Satellites gather sunlight with panels and concentrators, convert it to electricity, then drive laser diode modules that send a wide near-infrared beam to a target farm. The company has completed lab and airborne demonstrations, plans a LEO transfer test in 2028, then GEO operations with a first megawatt from space around 2030.
