OQ 5G satellite service for devices

Satellite IoT service built on the 3GPP Release 17 5G standard, so off-the-shelf 5G IoT devices can send data from oil fields, ships, mines and farms beyond cell coverage.

Why it matters

Because it follows the same standard as cellular networks, customers can connect existing compatible devices without buying special satellite hardware, and telecom operators can roam their customers onto it.

How the technology works

OQ operates satellites that connect 5G non-terrestrial network (NTN) IoT devices. Customers either use OQ devices or bring their own Release 17 compatible products, and telecom partners extend coverage through a roaming program.

Industries served include energy, maritime, mining, logistics, agriculture and defense.
