MP42 satellite bus family

NanoAvionics' microsatellite buses. The first-generation MP42 has launched ten times; the second generation adds the MP42H and a 500 kg MP42D with laser crosslinks.

Why it matters

A standard bus lets a customer focus on the instrument, and a family of sizes lets the same supplier carry everything from a small demo to a heavy defense payload.

How the technology works

The MP42D supports up to 250 kg of payload, stores 3.4 kWh of energy, carries 2.5 Gbps optical intersatellite links and is designed for seven years at 750 km. NanoAvionics says the first five second-generation MP42 platforms have been built or delivered, with launches planned for late 2026 and 2027.
