Vigoride

Momentus's orbital service vehicle, which rides a SpaceX rideshare to orbit and then drops off customer satellites and hosts payloads in low Earth orbit.

Why it matters

Rideshare launches are cheap but put every satellite in roughly the same orbit. Vigoride was one of the first commercial vehicles flown to sort them into custom orbits, and its flights showed both the promise and the difficulty of the model.

How the technology works

Vigoride carries customer satellites on a rideshare launch, then maneuvers to deploy them or keep them attached as hosted payloads. It is moved by microwave electrothermal thrusters that use water as propellant.

Earlier missions flew on Transporter-5, -6 and -7, and Vigoride 7 launched in March 2026 with 10 payloads.
