SORASYS radar network

Look Up's ground radars that track objects in low Earth orbit, starting with a site in southern France and expanding to French Polynesia and Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon.

Why it matters

Radar works in any weather and at any time of day. Many operators rely on tracking data that someone else controls, and an independent European network gives operators, agencies and defense forces their own source.

How the technology works

Each SORASYS site is a large radar that measures the positions of objects passing overhead in low orbit. Look Up says it detects objects under 5 cm and can recommend an avoidance maneuver within 10 minutes of a detection.

Sites spread around the globe let it see each object on more passes.
