Tenacious micro rover
A shoebox-sized rover built by ispace's European arm that was meant to scoop up lunar soil for a NASA purchase. It was lost when its lander crashed in June 2025.
Why it matters
It would have been the first European-made rover on the Moon. Its soil sample was to be sold to NASA, with ownership handed over on the Moon, an early test of buying and selling space resources.
How the technology works
Tenacious weighed about 5 kg and was designed and built by ispace-EUROPE in Luxembourg. It rode on the Resilience lander and was to collect a small sample of lunar soil with a scoop made by Epiroc, then transfer ownership of the sample to NASA.
The lander crashed before the rover could be deployed.
