Ray
Inversion's small pathfinder capsule, built in house to test spacecraft systems ahead of Arc. It reached orbit in 2025 but did not complete its planned reentry.
Why it matters
Ray gave Inversion flight experience with its own avionics, propulsion and operations at low cost before committing to the larger Arc vehicle.
How the technology works
Ray flew as a rideshare payload on SpaceX's Transporter-12 mission to test subsystems in orbit. Inversion says nearly every system was built in house by a 25-person team for under $1 million.
A short circuit kept its deorbit engine from firing, and it was not designed to demonstrate Arc's precision landing.
