Satellites increasingly process sensor data on board. Ibeos built the EDGE-1100 on a commercial AMD Ryzen chip to give commercial, civil and defense missions more onboard computing.
How the technology works
The card pairs a quad-core AMD Ryzen CPU with 512 GPU cores and built-in upset mitigation, in a radiation-tolerant 3U SpaceVPX format. Ibeos began software integration in 2023, with engineering units due that year and flight units slated for early 2024.
