Orbital High-Throughput Screener (OHTS)

Automated ISS payload that runs more than 2,000 drug-screening samples at once on disease models grown in microgravity.

Why it matters

Cells and tissues often behave differently in microgravity, which can expose disease behavior and drug effects that are hard to see on Earth. Running many samples per flight makes orbital drug discovery closer to how pharma screens compounds on the ground.

How the technology works

OHTS is a permanently installed ISS payload with exchangeable sample and consumable modules, so each cargo flight can bring a new campaign. Exobiosphere says installation is scheduled for April 2027, with customer campaigns in mid and late 2027.
