Razor Crest Mk-1
A medium-lift rocket designed to carry up to 24.8 tonnes when thrown away, 22.8 tonnes with a reusable booster, or about 8 tonnes when both stages come back. A demonstration flight is targeted for late 2027.
Why it matters
Reuse is what has driven launch prices down elsewhere. A medium-lift Indian rocket that recovers both stages would give satellite operators another launch option outside the U.S. and China.
How the technology works
The booster runs on Stallion engines rated at 1.2 meganewtons each, and the upper stage uses an 80-kilonewton Pegasus engine. EtherealX says the upper stage can make up to 16 orbit insertions on one flight, and it plans a 72 to 96 hour turnaround between flights.
The company built a test site in Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu.
