Sterna

A radiation-tolerant satellite computer built around an NVIDIA Jetson chip that runs AI models in orbit. It has flown since SpaceX's Transporter-16 mission in March 2026.

Why it matters

Satellites collect far more data than they can send down. Processing it on board means only the useful results need the scarce downlink, and lets satellites react without waiting on the ground.

How the technology works

Sterna pairs an NVIDIA Jetson processor with radiation hardening and power management for space. EDGX targets communications, Earth observation and in-orbit servicing missions.

ESA's ARTES program supported its development from 2024.
