SkyBee thermal satellites
constellr's small thermal infrared satellites. SkyBee-1 and SkyBee-2 are in orbit and measure land surface temperature at 30-meter native resolution.
Why it matters
Temperature shows things a color photo misses: stressed crops, running factories, ship and vehicle activity, and urban heat. constellr sells the data to government and defense customers, and through SKY Perfect JSAT in Japan.
How the technology works
Each SkyBee satellite carries a thermal infrared imager. Native resolution is 30 m, with sharpened products down to 10 m.
constellr's current spec sheet lists 1.0 to 1.5 K absolute temperature accuracy and detector sensitivity better than 0.1 K. SkyBee-2 joined SkyBee-1 in orbit in June 2025.
