Jilin-1 constellation
Chang Guang's growing fleet of imaging satellites, including 0.5 m and 0.75 m high-resolution, 1 m video, 150 km wide-swath, 5 m spectral and infrared models.
Why it matters
It gives China a commercial source of frequent high-resolution imagery at scale. Chang Guang says it has put 161 Jilin-1 satellites into space over 30 launches.
How the technology works
Different satellite types share one constellation: sharp still-image satellites, video satellites, wide-swath mappers, spectral and infrared imagers. The first four Jilin-1 satellites launched together on 7 October 2015, and later batches added many more.
Imagery feeds mapping, farming, forestry and land-use services.
